Ok, so it takes me a while to finish a book, but today I finished another great one.
The Lovely Bones.
It is the story of a teenage girl who, after being raped and murdered, watches from heaven as her family and friends go on with their lives.
It's a book that forces you confront your thoughts and beliefs about death; what happens, what you'd like to happen and what you're scared probably doesn't.
It takes you to the most intimate parts of peoples lives through the eyes of a young teenager, who only grows wise through experiencing the lives of others and not her own. She feels what others feel and understands why they feel it. She has an insight into her families lives that even the individuals themselves don't seem to see. Perhaps the only slight cliche comes near the end when the line between dream and reality is blurred. But even that is beautiful. The entire book is beautiful.
If you're looking for a good read, this one is a must.
