Coming Home

As ever, today I was delighted to head home. Although I love to spend time with my parents, I always relish the moment when we kiss them goodbye, get in the car and head for the M4.

We were home by 3pm and had a lovely afternoon sorting out the garden and doing what one's supposed to do on a Bank Holiday Monday:
  • Mowing the lawn
  • Sowing the tomato seeds
  • Covering the potatoes
  • Putting the pea sticks up
Then my husband and son played rugby on the lawn while I pottered in the kitchen.  I love watching them play together.  I have to admit that a little bit of my heart bleeds every time I see it.  It's like some part of me realises that I will never have that father / son relationship.  It's so special.  He looks up to his Daddy like he is the most important person in the world.  He completely idolises him, it's beautiful to watch the excitement in his eyes when he kicks the ball perfectly and knows he's made his Daddy so happy.

So now I'm sitting in the sofa, the night before I go back to work, wishing that the week didn't have to end.
