Drivin' home for Christmas....

Just a quick blog today, as today is the day Christmas officially starts in our house hold. We're heading to my parent's house. Christmas just isn't the same anywhere else. It's a Cotswold "chocolate box" and we've just heard they've had two inches of snow - it couldn't be more perfect for a two year old's (or 31 year old's for that matter) Christmas.

It's not such a romantic vision that my mother just painted when when called this morning though. She is the biggest pessimist I know. "It's not ready" "it's a nightmare" " your father and I were up 'til 2am and we still haven't got everything done"... "there's a lorry stuck in the drive with it's wheels spinning"

It's the same every year with my mother:

- Every year she swears that she won't over-do it before Christmas again
- Every year in mid-November she decides to do a massive house transformation (This year its converting the study into a dining room )
- Every year she manages to employ the most incapable builders ever
- Every year we all arrive and the house is beautiful
- Every year she gets ill on Christmas Eve and spends Christmas Day either whinging or in bed
- Every year she swears that she won't over-do it before Christmas again

You've gotta love her consistency if nothing else!

See you on the other side...
