Schools

We looked round our final school today and having only seen three I am quite amazed by the variety of teaching methods. Today's school teaches every subject in French. I don't quite get it to be honest. Yes, I want my son to speak other languages, but the fact is that he is English and his exams will be in English and more than anything, how on earth would I help him with his homework?! So, we decided against that one!

It was funny timing considering the Family prgramme on BBC2 again last night.. Are we just too focussed on our children? Our lives can, so easily if we let them, revolve around our children and to some extent we begin to live our lives through them.

It can make you question your role as a parent.

How would you define your role as a parent? I'll be thinking about the job spec today!

I see my role as a parent quite simply. It is to do everything possible to prepare my son for a happy, contented and successful life. I don't have a detailed plan of how I'm going to achieve it but do think about my overarching objective on at least a daily basis. I think the very fact that we even consider it is a massive advantage over the start many children get...
