Reality Bites

Today my husband's cousin lost a baby at 25 weeks. We're all in shock.

I know I always say it's times like these that you realise just how lucky you are, but this one has cut deep.

She was taken into hospital on Tuesday with suspected Swine Flu, but the baby seemed fine. We haven't been given a huge amount of detail, but it seems that things took a turn for the worst last night, she was rushed to intensive care and they then couldn't find a heart beat for the baby. We heard this morning that she was delivering naturally while still in intensive care herself, but I can't really get my head around the logistics of that. Not only does her husband have to deal with her being incredibly ill and losing a child, but he also lost his mother about 10 years ago to a virus in hospital.

I feel numb, it's just horrible.

Reality bites.

Sorry to hear such sad news. It makes you realise just how much you appreciate life when these things happen.
