Potty Training: Step One

About 6 months ago I bought Gina Ford's Potty Training in One Week

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Has anyone ACTUALLY done this, I mean REALLY???

Before starting Gina suggests all of the following should be achieved:

1. He is over 18 months of age: CHECK
2. His nappy is frequently dry when you get him up from his lunchtime nap: CHECK
3. He is aware when he is doing a poo i.e. going very quiet: CHECK
4. He can understand and follow simple instructions: CHECK
5. He is eager to participate in taking off his own clothes: CHECK
6. Can point to different parts of his body when you name them: CHECK
7. He has the ability to sit still and occupy himself or concentrate for 5 to 10 mins

Today we did the big exciting shop to buy his "big boy pants" and made it all very exciting when we got home, setting up a sticker chart.

Was he in the remotest bit cooperative? I think not. You would have thought we were asking him to walk across hot coals. We have had numerous accidents and very little "potty time" but I'm determined to stick at it. The childminder is looking after another boy who's being trained at the same time, so hopefully a bit of male competition will help move matters along...

Any advice much appreciated!
