My party boy

Yesterday we were at a wedding in Yorkshire, partly as pro photographers, partly as guests. The wedding was of a very old family friend, well she's not old, but we've known them for about 15 years, so it was lovely to be able to spend such a great day with them. It had been snowing the night before too, so it really was a picture with the light dusting of snow and candlelight in the church.

The big debate was what we do with our son. What is the "done" thing in these situations? One thing has become very clear over the Christmas period is that my son, despite being only 26 months, loves parties!

We thought he would probably pass out by 10... He was still up at midnight drumming with the drummer to Robbie Williams. He's got some wicked dance moves too: slightly akin to a head-banging Grandad punching toward the floor while jumping on the spot, but cool all the same! I thought it was cool, but I do hope that everyone else wasn't looking at him and thinking what irresponsible parents we are. There were a few comments like "I bet you'll pay for this tomorrow", but I have a cheeky grin today because actually, so far he's been amazing. He slept until 0830 and even co-operated for a mini family reunion we had over morning coffee.

We're now in the car heading south and home. Thankfully we both had the foresight to take tomorrow off, as our childminder is still closed. I"m really looking forward to a bonus "family day" before work hits again. We've decided to stop at IKEA for a few coloured picture frames for our son's playroom, on the way home, so no doubt we'll end up spending about £75 on all the other bits that take our fancy! If is possible to visit IKEA and only buy what you go in for? I doubt it.
