Ok, so we told them!

I have been stressing myself out so much over the past couple of days over the fact that I'm hiding my pregnancy from my parents, that when my hubby arrived by train this evening we agreed that we should tell them.

As ever, getting the timing right is always hard and in classic male style, over dinner, hubby comes out with:

"so, what are your plans for this Christmas?"

Rather random question for May, so it got a suitable response, which was something along the lines of "we have no idea".

The conversation continued in the same vein for a while until it became clear that yes, I'm pregnant again and yes it's due on Christmas Day. My Dad jumped out of his chair and gave me a big kiss. My Mother made some comment about it being "a shame" or "inconvenient" she actually hardly broke a smile, I was gutted. She's a unique woman and she was admittedly very tired, but this one really surprised me.

I've come to bed with a real sense of anti-climax. All that build up to telling her and the only thing she could really say was how inconvenient a Christmas Day due date is. (I feel I should point out that I was born a week before Christmas and my sister 3 weeks afterwards, so she hasn't really got a good case for bad planning!)

Oh that's just terrible. My mum is the same. When I told her I was pregnant the 2nd time around she asked me if I was going to keep it. As I had only been with Mr Foodie a year or so. She thought it was too fast. She wouldn't have it any other way now though! She'll come around to the idea don't worry!
