Bloody children....

I don't think I swear at home, well not much anyway and especially not in front of my son.

For the last couple of weeks I've noticed his favourite words have been "discusting" and "stupid". Not too bad you say, until you prefix them with "you're!"

I'll tolerate it though and say that you need to understand what those words mean when you use them.

Today, however, a new word arrived...

Bloody

I almost fell over when he remarked "don't put it in your bloody bag". I highlighted his error, but didn't want to make a big deal, so I left it with a simple "don't say that, it's a bad word".

Later, while playing the conversation went something like this:

"Dont do that it's bloody stupid"
" Mummy has told you that's a bad word, where did you hear it"
pause
"Who says that word"
pause
"does mummy say that word?"
"yes, when Daddy is driving and braking!!"

cringe city. I could have died of shame.

We left it with a deal that it's a naughty word and neither of us will say it again. If I do, I'm on the naughty step too.

Parenting... One long lesson.
