19 Weeks Pregnant

I really can't believe that yet another week has gone by and that I'm almost halfway there.

There's no real news apart from the fact that I've again been obsessing about having a girl. It's pathetic, I know, I also know that I should only care that it's healthy. It's making us seriously question whether we should find out the sex or not at the 21 week scan. If it's a boy, I have 20 weeks to get my head sorted and excited and if it's a girl, I can relax and stop stressing!

I'm almost completely convinced it's a boy now though!

So, this is me, 19 weeks pregnant:

According to BabyCentre I'm halfway there! (how do they figure that when I've actually only had a baby growing inside me for 17 weeks and there are probably at least 21 weeks to go?!) The top of my uterus now reaches my belly button and will grow about a centimetre a week. My baby measures about 14.2cm long from crown to rump and weighs about 240g.

She is swallowing amniotic fluid, and her kidneys continue to make urine. Hair on her scalp is sprouting, too. Sensory development reaches its peak this week. The nerve cells serving each of the senses – taste, smell, hearing, seeing and touch – are developing in their specialised areas of the brain. Nerve cell production slows down as existing nerve cells grow larger and make more complex connections.

Apparently I'll start growing even more rapidly in the weeks to come and I shouldn't be surprised if I find myself slowing down. Do you think work will let me though?! Ha Ha, I don't think so.
